[CAMERAOSCURA]
Paenitentia (latin for penance) is the musical transcription of an inner journey, both spiritual and rational, the awareness generated by this lapse of time we are living, transfigured through the liturgical symbolism and subdivided in three parts:
1 Actus Contritionis (Act of Pain)
we are forced to carry the burden of our sins and mistakes that forced us into chains and which we have to atone through an expression of pain.
2 Paenitentia (Penance)
we understand our sins and mistakes and accept the punishment; through scourging we contemplate the majesty of what is higher and the paltriness of our meaninglessness and arrogance.
3 Reconciliatio (Reconciliation)
after the atonement and the suffering of the punishment we rejoin with ourselves and the others, embracing the essence of what is true and beautiful. /Marco Valenti

❤️My original plan was to go through and buy individual tracks like I do with most compilation albums, but honestly there are just so many good ones that I wound up buying the whole thing. More than simple drones (though there are plenty of those, too), this album collects many of the best and most innovative dark ambient artists in one place, including many who are new to me.
